By the end of the workshop, you'll have explored how to:

• Understand AI's potential and limitations: Explore how generative AI works, where it may support teaching and learning, and why outputs require professional judgement.
• Identify opportunities for neuroinclusive practice: Recognise ways AI could help reduce barriers related to accessibility, cognitive load, communication and individual learning needs.
• Design and adapt learning resources: Practise using AI to create or adapt explanations, activities, scaffolds and resources for diverse learners.
• Evaluate safe and ethical use: Consider safeguarding, data protection, bias, accuracy, intellectual property and relevant school policies.
• Develop an implementation plan: Identify practical, manageable ways to use AI within existing teaching practice, with appropriate checks for accessibility, quality and learner benefit.

You don't need to be confident with AI to take part. We'll work through practical examples together.

We'll look at what generative AI can do, how it produces responses and why its suggestions need checking.

Explore neuroinclusive possibilities

We'll consider common barriers to learning and explore where AI might help with explanations, accessibility, communication and cognitive load.

Try adapting learning resources

Through demonstrations and optional activities, we'll practise creating prompts, adapting materials and reviewing the results for accuracy, accessibility and usefulness.

Consider safe and responsible use

We'll discuss safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection, bias, intellectual property and working within your school's AI policies.

Learners can experience attention, memory, sensory demands, communication and information processing differently. A resource that works well for one learner may create unnecessary barriers for another.

Drawing on psychology, neuroscience, education and inclusive learning design, we'll explore how AI might help educators respond to these differences.

We'll also look critically at AI-generated materials. Making something shorter, simpler or more colourful doesn't automatically make it accessible or effective. It's important to consider the learner, the task and the evidence behind the approach.

I've never used AI before. Can I join?
Absolutely. We'll start with the basics, and activities will be accessible to beginners.

Do I need a paid AI subscription?

Is this suitable for primary and secondary educators?
Yes. We'll explore approaches that can be adapted across phases, subjects and educational settings.

Will we discuss safeguarding and data protection?
Yes. We'll consider how to use AI responsibly, including avoiding the disclosure of identifiable pupil information in unapproved tools.
